Home > Excavation Safety

No construction project can be completed without digging.  Whether it’s electrical, foundations, sanitary sewers, or piping, there will always be a need for machines and workers to create and work in excavations. Unrestrained soils can collapse without warning, and the resulting cave-ins can be catastrophic. For this reason, OSHA requires an excavation “Competent Person” to make critical determinations about the safety of the excavation before allowing workers to enter.

S-E-A has experts meeting OSHA’s “Competent Person” requirement, not to mention experts who can assist with soil/foundation issues utilizing geotechnical engineering Their knowledge and experience can be invaluable to you in determining the safety responsibilities and/or origin & cause of the incident related to the entities working on the site.
