Mr. Brown is an IAAI-CFI® (Certified Fire Investigator) and Licensed Private Investigator. His responsibilities include determining the origin and cause of fires and explosions in both commercial and residential structures. Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Brown spent 13 years with the Fire Marshal’s Office, where he was the lead Arson Investigator for a Municipality in Georgia. He was in charge of four investigators and was responsible for overseeing the investigation division of the department. Mr. Brown has investigated well over 1,000 fires in his career and has continued with his investigations after retiring from the Fire Marshal’s Office. During his time with the Fire Marshal’s Office, Mr. Brown made several arrests of arson suspects, with a conviction rate of 80%. On many of these arrests, Mr. Brown provided expert origin-and-cause testimony in courts of law regarding criminal matters. Mr. Brown also served as the lead contact person for the Metro Area Arson Task Force.

Having been an A.S.E. Certified Automotive Technician previously, Mr. Brown has extensive knowledge and expertise required to conduct fire investigations in all types of vehicles. Mr. Brown also has experience in conducting fire investigations in marine vessels. He is a member of several professional affiliations, which include the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the IAAI Texas Chapter, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI). Mr. Brown has taught a course of instruction for basic fire investigations to the Janesville Fire Department and possesses the education, training, experience, and certification requirements to be an expert in his respective field.
