Dr. Forero Rueda received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin, in Dublin, Ireland, his MS in Automotive Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, and his BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of the Andes, in Bogota, Colombia.
Before joining S-E-A, as a Postdoctoral Researcher, he supervised, designed and participated in numerous research and investigation projects in the areas of impact biomechanics, impact injury investigation, and impact protection.
These projects involved the study of new materials for head protection, the development of computer models and laboratory setup design for head impact testing, the investigation of falls and their injuries, and forensic injury analysis.
At the same time, he also taught engineering mechanics and was a technical advisor for the NSAI (National Standards Authority of Ireland) at the TC 158 (European Technical Committee 158), Working Group 5 (Equestrian Helmets). During his studies, Dr. Forero investigated the nature of head injuries and the technology for head injury prevention.
He also participated in industry-led projects on injury biomechanics, crash safety, and workplace biomechanics. He has published his work in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals. Throughout his varied projects in biomechanics, he has worked and interacted with a wide array of groups, including consumer organizations, manufacturers, standards organizations and international biomechanics research institutions.
He now brings his varied experience to S-E-A to provide scientific analysis of impacts and accidents, injury mechanisms and injury causation.
