Mr. Motloch earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in multiple states, including the State of Texas.
Mr. Motloch’s responsibilities at S-E-A include the investigation of products and systems, particularly those suspected of causing a fire, equipment damage, and/or personal injury and conducting analyses to determine the mode, sequence, and/or root cause of events. He evaluates various types of equipment, products, and systems (residential, commercial, and industrial) both on-site and in a laboratory setting.
Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Motloch worked in both the Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy Industries. His work experience involved testing and evaluation of third-party power, instrumentation, and control products for use in hazardous areas. He has design experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), motor starters, and control cabinets. In addition, Mr. Motloch tested, developed, and evaluated a wide variety of battery technologies, third-party battery management systems, and energy storage systems.
Mr. Motloch’s professional affiliations include the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
