Dr. Verner joined S-E-A as a mechanical/biomechanics consultant after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Gonzaga University and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (focusing on biomechanics and biology) at Purdue University. Since arriving at S-E-A, she has been involved in accident investigations and reconstructions for both mechanical and biomechanical events. She has performed research, testing, and analyses to aid in evaluating accidents and injury causation. Dr. Verner conducts inspections and investigations of scenes and/or evidence, including documentation via photography, videography, notes, and FARO 3D laser scanning.
During her doctoral studies, she performed extensive research and experimental testing on musculoskeletal tissues’ response to mechanical loads. Her research has been disseminated in peer-reviewed journal publications and as presentations at several national conferences. She has completed coursework in traffic accident reconstruction from the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, HVE Software training from Engineering Dynamics Company, LLC, and is certified to use the Bosch CDR tool. Dr. Verner is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and ASTM International. In total, her education and experience make her well equipped to investigate, reconstruct, and analyze mechanical and biomechanical events, as well as perform case-specific testing and research.
