Mr. Shafer received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (specializing in Bioengineering Applications) from Kettering University. In conjunction with his under-graduate studies, Mr. Shafer gained experience in bumper-impact systems at an automotive supplier. He then took on the responsibility of first-tier interior trim system development. Mr. Shafer continued his education at the University of Michigan where he received his Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering (specializing in Biomechanics). He then was responsible for preoperative planning and surgical guide development on cranio-maxillofacial surgeries for a medical device supplier. Prior to joining S-E-A, he was engineering lead and manager of a biomechanics and comfort engineering firm for an automotive seating supplier. At S-E-A, Mr. Shafer performs vehicle-related accident investigations, analyses, and reconstructions, as well as biomechanical analyses.
