Mr. Hernandez earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, and his Master of Engineering Degree in Structural Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and is a licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois, as well as a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states. Prior to joining S-E-A, he worked in the nuclear power industry where he was responsible for managing a team of structural engineers and implementing a variety of power plant structural modifications involving the application of both historic and modern building codes, with their corresponding design specifications. Additionally, he led a variety of securityrelated projects focused on mitigating acts of terrorism via land and waterborne approaches. He became a company subject matter expert in blast analysis and in the design of vehicle barrier systems. Mr. Hernandez’ background in structural design aids him in performing engineering investigations, evaluations, and analyses of structural deficiencies in existing commercial, residential, and industrial structures to determine the presence, extent, and/or cause of damage to the building structure and components. Investigations involve structural failures in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber products, as well as foundations, roofing systems, and wall assembly systems and applications. Phenomena investigated include damage resulting from fire, collapse, storms high wind, water intrusion, and other events. Engineering investigations also include building code analysis and conducting slip/trip-and-fall investigations for premises liability.
