Biography

Mr. Mahoney is a Sr. Electrical Engineer with over 15 years of experience in electric utility systems. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems from Clemson University. His responsibilities at S-E-A include providing evaluations regarding the cause of electrical faults and malfunctions involving fire, shock, electrocution, arc-flash, and equipment damage.

Mr. Mahoney investigates losses involving electric utility equipment, photovoltaic (solar) systems, batteries, consumer products, lightning, illumination, and electric vehicles (EV) among others. He routinely evaluates matters involving potential defects in design, manufacture, and construction/installation of electrical systems in residential, commercial, industrial, and utility settings.

Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Mahoney worked for an electric utility products manufacturer in the engineering services division. He managed projects related to power system protection, controls, automation, and communications. His experience included bidding, design, construction, commissioning, and quality control.

Mr. Mahoney is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in multiple states. He is also a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI) by the National Association of Fire Investigators, a Certified Marine Electrical Technician (CMET) by the American Boat and Yacht Council, and he holds the Lighting Associate (LA) accreditation from the American Lighting Association.
