Abhraneil Dam

Dr. Dam holds a Ph.D. in Human Factors of Systems and Product Design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His additional degrees include a Master of Science in Engineering in Automotive Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from KIIT University, India. As a Mechanical/Human Factors Consultant in S-E-A’s Charlotte office, his responsibilities include identifying and assessing the role of the user or the human factor in vehicle accident reconstruction, product liability and premise liability matters, as well as the influence and effectiveness of warnings and instructions.

Dr. Dam has over five years of research experience in human factors on the topics of vehicle user interfaces, auditory/visual warnings, auditory situation awareness, cognitive workload, and pedestrian distraction. Prior to joining
S-E-A, he interned at a tier one automotive supplier company where he performed ergonomic risk assessments of operators’ workstations on the assembly line. He also conducted user studies to identify the optimal viewing and interaction angles for a vehicle’s floor console mounted visual display that minimized distractions and discomfort.

Dr. Dam is CITI certified to conduct human subjects Social and Behavioral Research and recognized as a Qualified Researcher through InSight SHRP2 NDS.
