Biography
At S-E-A, Dr. Iverson is responsible for the testing and analysis of materials including characterization and identification of material performance. His work has included evaluation of metal, glass, ceramic, and polymeric (plastic and rubber) materials as well as composite materials, such as tires. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering and his Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Engineering from Purdue University.
Following graduation, Dr. Iverson spent nearly seven years working in the energy industry on research and development of cement and cementitious composites for wellbore applications. His focus was on investigating the impact of temperature and time on cement structural integrity and chemistry. In 2014, Dr. Iverson went to work for a tire manufacturer, where he researched rubber/rubber composite designs and the impact of phase mixing of rubber compounds. He then moved into forensics investigations of tire failures before ultimately leading a chemical analysis group tasked with analyzing and quantifying materials used in tires from raw ingredients to finished products.
Dr. Iverson is a registered professional engineer and is a member of the American Society of Materials (ASM), The Failure Analysis Society (FAS), and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
