Chris Silman

Mr. Silman is an IAAI Certified Fire Investigator^®, IAMI Certified Marine Investigator, a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator.  He is also a Certified Fire Investigator and a Certified Fire Inspector through the Missouri Division of Fire Safety.  Mr. Silman is a Licensed Private Investigator in multiple states.  Mr. Silman’s responsibilities include determining the origin and cause of fires and explosions in commercial and residential structures personal and commercial vehicles, boatyards, marinas, and vessels ranging from personal watercraft to large cargo ships.  He also has experience conducting origin and cause investigations in multiple vehicle types, including personal and commercial vehicles, recreational vehicles, and various types of agricultural and industrial equipment.

Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Silman was employed in the private sector as a Fire Investigator in the St. Louis area for 15 years, where he gathered extensive experience in conducting origin and cause investigations.  Mr. Silman also spent two years as a Fire Inspector with the Missouri Division of Fire Safety, and eight years as a member of the Kennett Fire Department in Southeast Missouri.  Mr. Silman’s last position with the fire department was the position of Fire Marshal.  During his time as a fire investigator, he has investigated the origin and cause of over 3,000 fires.  In addition to Mr. Silman’s fire investigation experience and training, he also spent nine years with the Missouri Army National Guard as a member of the Military Police Corp and a Demolitions Expert as a Combat Engineer.  His military experience included multiple deployments.

Mr. Silman is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the IAAI State Chapter of Florida, International Association of Marine Investigators (IAMI), and the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI).  Mr. Silman has testified as an expert witness in multiple jurisdictions at the State level.
