Biography

Mr. Rogus earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. As a Mechanical Consultant at S-E-A, he investigates incidents involving personal injury and property damage. He conducts detailed product analyses and applies the Scientific Method to determine incident causation. He evaluates product performance, design intent, and compliance with industry standards, drawing on his expertise in mechanical systems and experimental testing.

Before joining S-E-A, Mr. Rogus acquired specialization in data acquisition, mechanical design, and simulation across multiple engineering applications and disciplines. As a graduate researcher, he led a multimillion-dollar study sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and leading industry partners using post-mortem human subjects to evaluate thoracic injury risk and mechanisms in side-impact crashes. He also contributed to a wide range of injury biomechanics research, including studies on fighter-jet ejection seats, autonomous vehicle seating concepts, and motorcycle accidents. This work informed the development of safety tools such as Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs) and Human Body Models (HBMs) and supported the refinement of injury criteria and safety standards. Beyond injury biomechanics, Mr. Rogus managed multiple projects funded by a major appliance manufacturer that were aimed at optimizing product performance. His contributions included Finite Element Analysis (FEA), simulation, and experimental testing to assess how changes in appliance design affect vibration characteristics.

Mr. Rogus is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
