Biography
Mr. Mehl earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology from Penn State University. As a Mechanical Consultant based in the Baltimore office, Mr. Mehl works in the Vehicle Accident Reconstruction group performing inspections and investigations of passenger vehicles, heavy trucks, and accident sites. His capabilities include component failure analysis, electronic data retrieval for passenger vehicles, gathering 3D data for documentation, and analysis of vehicle and scene investigations. He is knowledgeable in vehicle maintenance, repair, set-up and handling dynamics.
Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. Mehl spent 9 years in the automotive industry in both manufacturing and R&D engineering roles focused on new product development and testing of chassis and driveline systems of passenger vehicles, where his work contributed to multiple award-winning models. He has also led an engineering team in the development and manufacture of Type III & IV composite pressure vessels for aerospace launch vehicle and hydrogen mobility applications, including hydrogen fuel systems for fuel cell electric (FCEV) heavy duty trucks and transit buses. Additionally, he has experience in the development, testing and manufacturing of electric motors for consumer product applications.
Mr. Mehl has performance driving experience through auto racing competitions, work experience, training and certifications, is a certified Bosch CDR (Crash Data Retrieval) technician, FAA-licensed sUAS remote pilot, and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
