Biography

Dr. James Randazzo graduated from the University of Nebraska (Lincoln), where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he earned a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences. As a Toxicologist based in S-E-Aโ€™s Columbus office, his responsibilities include determining the presence or absence of chemicals in our food or environment through testing and/or analysis of data. Additionally, Dr. Randazzo is responsible for evaluations including exposures to microbial organisms, alcohol, illicit drugs, pharmaceuticals, metals, industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, gases/vapors/aerosols, and other potential occupational and/or environmental contaminants and how these exposures may contribute to the cause and/or manner of human health effects.

Dr. Randazzo has over fourteen years of experience in toxicology and safety assessment. While working at contract research organizations, Dr. Randazzo gained experience with agrochemicals, industrial chemicals, and drugs administered through the skin, the gastrointestinal tract, the respiratory tract, and/or directly into the systemic circulation as part of non-clinical studies that ranged in type from general to genetic toxicology. Most recently, Dr. Randazzo was the Director of Toxicology at Attentive Science. In that role, he was responsible for the execution, oversight, and reporting of general toxicology studies, senior level review of all toxicology study data, and conformance to applicable GLPs. Data generated from these non-clinical studies supported chemical (re)registration with the EPA or submission to the FDA for an investigational new drug or a new drug application.

Dr. Randazzo earned his board certification in toxicology from the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) in 2016. He is also an active member of Association of Inhalation Toxicologists (AIT) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) Guideline Foundationโ€™s Emergency Response Planning Guidelines (EPRGs) Working Group due to his background with exposure to inhaled materials.
