Biography
Ms. Mayer earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University and her Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural focus from the University of Oklahoma, both with highest university honors. Her responsibilities at S-E-A include conducting investigations to determine the cause and extent of damage to structures, analyzing and evaluating structural failures in various materials, and evaluating existing structures for compliance with design plans, specifications, and building codes.
Prior to joining S-E-A, Ms. Mayer worked on bridge, wall, and culvert projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois Tollway, and various Illinois municipalities. She has design experience with steel and concrete bridges, ranging from simple to complex structures. Her responsibilities included preparing design calculations for superstructure and substructure components; developing maintenance of traffic (MOT) staging plans; tracking and delegating project hours; coordinating with roadway, geotechnical, and drainage disciplines; creating quantity takeoffs and cost estimates; and completing quality assurance and quality control checks. Additionally, Ms. Mayer performed several inspections and generated condition reports for bridges, culverts, and sign truss structures for IDOT. Ms. Mayer also worked on commercial, hospital, and park projects as a civil-site design engineer intern.
Ms. Mayer is an Enrolled Professional Engineer Intern in Illinois and is currently pursuing her structural engineering and professional engineering licenses.
