Kevin C. Keaton
Sr. Fire InvestigatorIAAI-CFI®, CVFI
Mr. Keaton is a Senior Fire Investigator and has been with S-E-A since 2007. He received his associate degree in Fire Science Technology from Joliet Junior College. His responsibilities at S-E-A include determining the origin and cause of fires in structures, both residential and commercial; recreational vehicles; heavy trucking and forestry equipment; and motor vehicles, as well as conducting follow-up and background investigations using the latest technology.
He is an IAAI-CFI® (Certified Fire Investigator) and a NAFI-CVFI (Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator). He has extensive experience in law enforcement training and board certifications as a juvenile officer and an evidence technician. Mr. Keaton has testified as an expert witness in federal, state, and local jurisdictions. He is also a trained fire fighter, roadway extrication specialist, fire apparatus engineer, fire instructor, and fire prevention officer.
Mr. Keaton served as an Operations Commander for the DuPage County Fire Investigator Task Force for over five years. He is a former adjunct instructor for the University of Illinois-Police Training Institute, Joliet Junior College, College of DuPage, and the University of Illinois-Fire Service Institute.
Mr. Keaton is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and has served on the Educational and Training Committee; the National Fire Investigators Association (NAFI); the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA); a past member and President of the MABAS Division Fire Investigation Team; past member of the Joliet Junior College Fire Science/Paramedic Advisory Committee; and past member of the University of Illinois-Police Training Institute Arson Educational Committee.
