Biography
Mr. van Akelijen earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. As an Electrical Engineer based in S-E-Aโs Columbus office, his responsibilities include providing evaluations regarding the cause of electrical faults and malfunctions that result in loss, including fire, shock or electrocution, and damage to equipment or systems. He analyzes various types of electrical power equipment (i.e., transformers, circuit breakers, power lines, commercial and residential electrical systems, etc.) and appliances.
Prior to joining S-E-A, Mr. van Akelijen worked as an automation specialist in several industries, including oil and energy. He has experience in the analysis and evaluation of automation control systems design and performance including hardware specifications, design drawings, installation, and source code. Specializations include Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Operator Interface Terminals (OITs).
Mr. van Akelijen is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in multiple states, is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), and is a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI). Mr. van Akelijenโs professional affiliations include the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI).
