Biography
Clare received her Masters of Science and Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. In her role at S-E-A, Clare applies her mechanical and biomechanical background to work on biomechanical analyses and accident reconstruction for a variety of vehicle accidents, including passenger vehicles, motorcycles, and pedestrians.
During her graduate program, Clare worked in the Injury Biomechanics Research Center as a Graduate Research Associate. The center focuses on multi-disciplinary research of injury mechanisms and biomechanical responses, particularly in automotive collisions. Through her master’s thesis, Clare investigated thoracic response during combined loading of seatbelt pretensioners and side airbags in side-impact crashes. She also assisted with a variety of impact testing and was the point of contact and trainer for high-speed cameras and the FARO arm.
During her undergraduate studies, Clare completed mechanical engineering internships at NASA Glenn Research Center. For the first internship, she created a data processing tool for rotorcraft transmission test data. For the second internship, she created a computational model for an engine combining Stirling and Brayton cycles. She also worked as a teaching assistant for an introduction to electromechanical design course in the mechanical engineering department.
