Vehicle Dynamics Products

The Vehicle Dynamics team at S-E-A designs and builds products and tools for the Automotive Industry. Since the 1990’s, our team has built machines for clients all over the world, each with unique needs and test cases.

Our suite of products include:

VIMF – Vehicle Inertia Measurement Facility

  • Accurately measure CG, moment of inertia, and cross-products of inertia of commercial vehicles, crash sleds, Formula 1 and other competition vehicles, and more.
  • S-E-A has been providing VIMF services to NHTSA since 2002.
  • Used for verification of simulations, determination of SSF, and more.

C1000 Series – Engine and Component Measurement

  • The C1000 provides the ability to measure the CG, moment of inertia, and cross-products of inertia for smaller vehicle components.
  • Engines, Car seats, and more can be measured.

STRIDE – ADAS Robot

  • The STRIDE is a low-profile robot made for carrying pedestrian and bicyclist targets for ADAS testing.
  • Unique functionality and open-source code make this easy-to-use robot different from other platforms on the market.

Steering Robot 

  • S-E-A’s steering robot provides the ability to repeatably execute steering maneuvers during highly controlled testing.
  • Models available for both handwheel steer and tiller steer vehicles.
  • S-E-A’s Automated Test Driver (ATD) combines the Steering and Brake and Throttle Robot to provide full lateral and longitudinal control of a vehicle for unmanned and other highly controlled testing.

Brake and Throttle Robot

  • The Brake and Throttle robot provides precise speed control for highly controlled testing.
  • S-E-A’s Automated Test Driver (ATD) combines the Steering and Brake and Throttle Robot to provide full lateral and longitudinal control of a vehicle for unmanned and other highly controlled testing.

Vision Safety Systems

  • Camera-based system capable of detecting pedestrians, pickup trucks, ATVs and ROVs.
  • Compatible with the S-E-A Automated Test Driver to provide an additional layer of safety when performing unmanned testing.
  • Automated Test Driver automatically applies the brake and ends the test if any of the detectable objects are within a certain envelope.

Dashboard AI™

  • Dashboard AI allows for alert detection of forward collision warnings via both audible and visual alerts, and outputs a signal which can be used by braking robots to perform AEB and DBS testing.
  • System can be tuned for different tones, and has been trained on a library of dashboard alerts.
  • Warning flag can be output over CAN or Ethernet.

ADAS Test Data Interface

  • Part of an SBIR project through NHTSA.
  • Created a Test Data Interface to be used to perform regulatory testing on vehicles without steering wheels, where some interface, including security, is required to create a handshake between some input controller and the vehicle’s drive-by-wire system.
