Biography
After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and her Master of Science degree with a focus in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Memphis, Dr. Eichaker then received her Ph.D. with a focus in biomedical engineering from The Ohio State University. Dr. Eichaker’s doctoral research was funded primarily through the US Department of Transportation (USDOT); she studied the injury biomechanics and epidemiology of crash imminent scenarios geared toward informing automated vehicle behavior design. Prior to joining S-E-A in 2018, Dr. Eichaker gained experience in academia as a postdoctoral scientist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Eichaker is still a faculty member with The Ohio State University’s department of biomedical engineering where she has taught courses on the principles of product design (since 2019) and anatomy and physiology (since 2023).
At S-E-A, Dr. Eichaker’s practice focuses on applying principles of injury biomechanics and the epidemiology of injury to crash imminent safety research and scenario generation for automated vehicle testing and validation. She applies her experience in full-body and tissue level anatomy and biomechanics, use and application of anthropomorphic test devices, human factors, and ergonomics. Dr. Eichaker also leverages her experience in applying principles of the product design process; including the process of innovation, new product development, and product testing and validation. She also has background in analysis and application of standards, device research, user interface analyses, ergonomic analyses, warnings, labels, manual design, and device centric human factors assessments
